The University of Dundee has long been committed to ensuring transparency in career outcomes for its students. Recognising the need to provide a clear and structured link between academic programs and professional opportunities, Dundee partnered with Pathways to enhance how prospective students understand the career potential of their chosen courses.

Keeping careers information up to date on our course catalogue was a mammoth task. Pathways Graduate has allowed us to both automate the bulk of this work but also rely on a wider range of statistical information than we were otherwise using.

The content and web teams at the University of Dundee worked closely with us here at Pathways to refine key configuration options, ensuring that data accuracy remained paramount. This collaborative effort involved analysing the outcomes of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, developing features to allow the separation of u/g and p/g data, fine-tuning categorisation options, and ensuring the depth of data was sufficient to give accurate insight into all subject areas
By refining the underlying data and configuration settings, Dundee was able to provide a more accurate and insightful representation of career pathways, making it easier for students to understand their professional prospects after graduation.

One of Dundee’s primary motivations for adopting the Pathways Graduate product was to use their student outcome data effectively. The university wanted to present an honest, data-driven view of career progression, ensuring prospective students could make informed decisions. By integrating real graduate destinations and employment statistics into undergraduate course pages, Pathways Graduate provided an added layer of confidence for applicants exploring their future careers.

Gen Z and Gen Alpha customers are often mistrusting of what they see as subjective content or content written with a "vested interest" of showing the best possible result. Using data from Pathways means increased objectivity that the savvy audience of our course pages expect. We can then build upon the statistical data with more specific testimonials, which have their social proof increased by proximity to the information from Pathways.

A strategic rollout with staff engagement
Keen to engage academic and curriculum staff in the process, the University of Dundee took a strategic approach to the deployment of the Pathways Graduate product. The tool was first implemented on their internal staging server, allowing for a thorough review and feedback process from curriculum and academic staff.

This phased approach ensured that key stakeholders were part of the rollout process, fostering institutional buy-in and helping staff understand the value of the tool. By involving faculty members early, Dundee ensured that the deployment was aligned with academic goals and best practices in student engagement.
